Givenchy Spring 2014: Sensuality & Strength

For Givenchy’s Spring 2014, Riccardo Tisci presented a collection that was high on fluid silhouette and earthy color palette. Choosing to move away from floral and Bambi prints or his signature street style flavour, the collection was inspired by the fragility of Japanese kimono, dramatic draping and jewellery of tribal Africa and even to certain extent elegance of Indian sari.

Cowl backs, cowl fronts, kimono inspired suits, leather straps, metallic separates, jersey dresses, gowns and melange of daring cut out details played with sequins and embroidery. The pieces were worn with reinterpreted version of African two strap flat leather sandals, thus bringing in an element of easy elegance. Jewelled masks painted on to the model’s faces added the required drama on the runway.

Riccardo’s take on jersey fabrics and sequined maxi dresses are definitely going to appeal to lot of his patrons.  As for the collection, Mr. Tisci’s new offering had all the ingredients of  effortless sensuality and strength.
