‘Shehlaa’ by Shehla Khan,Winter/Festive 2013-14, Lakme Fashion Week

Titled, ‘Tale of the Unexpected’, the fairy tale (not one but many) inspired collection by Shehla Khan for her label ‘Shehlaa’ was high on fantasy, feminine grace and contemporary elegance.  Fabrics like tulle, satin, silk, lace, net and brocade added an element of subtle sensuousness and regality to this dreamy collection.

The intricate vintage embroidery in black and gold, bead work, 3D flowers, corset, fringes and expert cutwork was in harmony with the very essence of this Indo-Western collection. The structured bold silhouettes in a mixed color palette of nude, soft pink, aqua blue, ivory, peach and black comprised of pieces ranging from tiny cholis, tulle skirts and jumpsuit to tiered lehenga. Embroidered skirts, sheath, gowns with fringes and cigarette pants further elevated the classic yet modern glam quotient.

As for the beautiful show stopper Jacqueline Fernandez, she simply nailed it in a gorgeous baby pink sheer lehenga with floral motif. The transparent lehenga was paired with a silver embroidered strapless corset and a gorgeous statement pearl neckpiece.
